Have to say that I was the worst student in the needlework class.But suddenly a couple of years ago,I realized that the clothes that I liked were expensive,few fitted well,and many clothes even expensive ones were badly made.
Time to take action,
Scouring Thrift stores,I bought lots of old denim at $2 a piece,bought childrens clothes and cut out motifs and applique,sewed onto the denim,and had some pretty pieces to wear.Mastered buttonholes etc.
One lady always gave bits cheaply to me as I took so many different sizes,she must have thought I had lots of children.
Denim does not date,is adaptable and fun to wear.If it fitted,was cheap I bought it.
Plain clothes are the best,they can always be updated.
Here are some of the pieces I made.I have also found the lock down an ideal time to go through the wardrobe Renaudvating,creating.
All dressed up and nowhere to go throughout lockdown,
