Fly High

Fly High

I’ve always loved old planes, especially the painted ones.plus the pretty pin ups that adorned the planes,am art form in itself. Why are modes of transport feminine? Now they are Trans…port.no gender.

People used to care for their planes and vintage cars,Flying was an art,and those magificent Men loved their flying machines, and vintage cars.

Now everything goes faster and faster, and few planes or cars have character.

Leonardo De Vinci was the first person to design a flying machine.Man has always dreamed of flying.

Icarus flew too near the sun and his waxen wings melted and he fell to earth.

Last week early one cold morning…somehow I always leave doors open to the garden, two little birds came into my room. They flew round a few times, investigated and were away.At Christmas a robin would visit several years in a row, come into my room totally unafraid.I crossed the courtyard and another sparrow followed me into the house.conclusion, they are hungry and nesting. Now they are flocking ito the garden and eating  their was through my crumbly plum cake.I love the twitter and weetin when the food is put out.

Flying in small planes is fun, often used to before airways became commercial and flying no real fun any more.

Hang gliding and flying in the wind on currents of air looks fun! But one of my friends landed in the only tree for miles around and injured himself badly.Plus we have a lot of ravines and cliffs here….dangerous…oh amd sharks in the sea.

Many of my friends bungee jump, looks like a horror experience to me.

Musks  super expensive rocket burst into flames. As much as I would love to land on the moon or Mars, the cost is prohibitive, and it would have to be safer.

The theme for today is flying, birds including pin ups.So post gifs, memes, trailers, videos, stories and music,to your hearts content.

No politics or religious comments…respect all commenters.Enjoy

We dont need no Education!

We dont need no Education!Put another brick in the wall!

Or do we need an education? Many entrepeneurs  made money without a so called  good education.

Some colleges taught skills rather than academic subjects…always a practical idea.

Do you remember the old school yard where we used to play and sing?

Hogwarts would have been an adventure of magic.

How education has changed to what appears to be control from previous freedoms.many schools now have locked doors, and intercom systems to keep children safe..Possibly a pronoun agenda? Parents often receive a letter….Your daughter no longer classifies as female, kindly use the new name and pronoun. How things have changed.

I remember dinnertime conversations with my teenage peers, they went to  a ‘free school’,a wonderful school situated in 1,200 acres in a medieval building of historic churchlike appearance,Called Dartington Hall.I attended government day schools, and had to work to subsidize a university education. My last school,a government school produced a few notable pop stars. At Dartington Hall, children did not have to attend lessons, they could if they wished attend any class at any level. The record time one girl did not attend lessons was two years. It sounded a wonderful place of ‘freedom’,and bliss.Children made the rules at Dartington. The teachers/tutors were called by nick names or first names.Of my three friends, one married a pop star, and worked in the film industry, one became a first violinist, and the third started a farm growing exotic vegetables and fruits. In a way my friends were an expansion of my education, and a different world to mine,The press often visited Dartington with free beer and cigarettes to dish out to the children and promote a bad image of Dartington,A S Neil who ran Dartington wanted to produce free thinkers who were happy, and not suppressed do you consider your education was adequate to deal with your career or life, did you conform or rebel?

I always did  well if I liked a teacher or feared one.It does appear that many schools now pressure an agenda that fits into a political agenda of what may well be brainwashing young minds into a particular direction that many parents now have little choice in.What type of school did you attend?Did you do well in a subject if you liked a teacher?Did you love or hate school days? Was school a bed of roses?Did you consider or do you consider qualifications important!Did you behave well? Were you ever punished? Was school/ college/ university interesting?Did you do well when you left your education? Was life easy after you left your education?

Remember NO Politics,or disrespect  here!Post memes, gifs, music, quotations, trailers pertaining  to to school days

All roads

All Roads

Happy Easter week to everyone! Enjoy the day and your easter eggs.Do all roads lead to Rome? the Pope will address crowds of up to 60,000 today in St Peters Square,Rome.A place where you risk life crossing a road.I lived in Rome for two years and never went to hear the Pope, the Sistine chapel hoever, surpasses all imagination and is beautiful. The Apian Way is one of Romes most famous and beautiful walks ,it was made to carry Army supplies originally.Till today Roman roads have lasted, they were perhaps the greatest road builders of lasting roads.

What are the roads like where you live? Ours are more chaotic than ever, buses being retouted due to construction,no drainage, and poor condition,we are walking over ditches and planks into shops, its an obstacle course, and the traffic is chaotic.its been a continuing saga for months now.

Turkey was perhaps the most dangerous driving I ever experienced, especially 3 point turns atop of mountain passes, with the wheels hanging over cliffs.Dead lorries adorned dark gullies and valleys, camels pass cars on freeways at great speedJapan was the most orderly with pop up cardboard policemen, they would have run over them where I live,Very obediant to all stops and signs, and orderly.

There are however, beautiful scenic roads everywhere,I love country roads and winding lanes.i always wanted to drive along beaches as they do in Australia,or just for fun,

Road signs add to much confusion in most places, and the hook road turn in Melbourne was practically unfathomable.I had to swot their driving codes before going there. Some roads are more than dangerous, with drops into the sea ,or over cliff edges with no room to pass oncoming vehicles.Weather conditions can add to problems too.

What experiences have you had of road travel, you have loved,or hated?Have you  had any hair raising experiences you would like to share? Post memes gifs videos music, experiences, movies or trailers.

Respect all commenters and moderators…no political or religious comments please. Most of all enjoy. And welcome back to Tiamat a friend!Ansent from disqus for some three years.

The Magic of the sea

 The magic of the sea

The beach and the sea can be magic for all ages.

Some of my earliest memories ae of clambering over rock pools fishing for lunch, eating icecream and siting in deck chairs.

In Turkey  was living on a yacht in Bodrum, rowing for supplies to villages everyday, and swimming in deep blue seas.

I love deserted beaches, crowds are not for me,Australia had white sands blue seas and a beach culture…ideal.I dove for shells and made shell necklaces thatpaid for the months ai soent livng in western Austalia.

I intend to make the most of this summer as since the covid epidemic habe hardly been to the sea, even tho living nearby, but the beaches are rocky unless I travel northwards where there are golden sands.

Do you play watersports?what do you wear on the beach?Do you sunbathe, swim, picnic, exercise?do you take your dog to the beach,Its no longer allowed here,

In Italy music blared out,and we usually paid for the beach and frequented restaurants.

Share your memories, music, movies, gifs memes of your days on the beach.

Remember no politics or religion

Most of all enjoy, and all are welcome
